Marathon 1%G has become the standard in control for whitefly and aphids in poinsettias, mums, and other flowering ornamentals. In the past years, Marathon has given growers unprecedented control for up to 12 weeks and remains a staple for most. When using Marathon it is important to remember a few keys to application. First, timing. Timing is essential to making Marathon go the distance. Marathon should be applied shortly after a good root system is developed and the plant is actively and rapidly growing. Waiting to long to apply Marathon can leave older sections of the plant untreated and uncontrolled. Second, watering. When making your Marathon application remember that Marathon is very water-soluble and you do not want to water to much or you will leach the product out of the pot. Light watering should be maintained for 5 to 10 days after you Marathon application. Third, rotation. Make sure you do not rely solely on Marathon for you pest control. Rotate one of many other fine products (Decathlon and Azatin XL) to insure that Marathon as well as all products will have a long life in your greenhouse or nursery. |
